Topic:  Annual “Crosswalk” on Good Friday

 

The Christian County Ministerial Association will observe their annual “Crosswalk” on Good Friday, April 18th.  Participants are asked to gather in front of the old court house on Main St. in Hopkinsville, Ky., at 10:00 a.m.  The walk will pause for prayer at Virginia St. Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, First Methodist Church, and Pioneer Cemetery.  The community is invited.

Topic:  Balyeats from Montana

Topic:  Benefit for Honduras Mission Trip

 

Living Spirit Worship Center, located at 7535 Madisonville Road, about 5 miles north of Hopkinsville in the Kelly Community, is having a fund-raiser on Friday, April 25th, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Godfather’s Restaurant.  It is to benefit the July Honduras mission trip.  Folks may come in or call in – just be sure to mention “Living Spirit Worship Center” and 10% of those sales will be given toward the mission trip.  Thank you and God bless all participants.

Topic:  YBA Summer Basketball

 

The Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville is offering YBA summer basketball.  Registration deadline is Friday, April 25th.  The cost is $40 per player.  The season dates are June 6 through July 26.  The age divisions are Rookies (ages 8-9 as of May 1); Junior (ages 10-11 as of May 1); and Senior (ages 14-18 as of May 1).  League provided equipment includes a jersey, shorts, and mouthpiece.  There is a maximum of two practices a week and 2 hours a day.  Team sponsorships are $150.  To sponsor, call 270-887-4020.  Brochures are available at the Boys and Girls Club.  Parents are required to come to the mandatory parent meeting at the start of the season.  Training camp is May 28-29 and the draft is May 31.

Topic: One-Stop-Spring Shop Event

 

Restoration House’s Student Ministry, “One-way Generation”, is hosting a One-Stop-Spring Shop Event on Saturday, April 26th, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  There will be over 30 vendors set up.  Some of the wares include:  jewelry, clothing, wreaths, door signs, Scentsy, and food.  Restoration House is located at 2414 Ft. Campbell Blvd. in Hopkinsville, KY.  This will be a good time to look for a Mother’s Day gift.  This fundraiser will help students attend Verge Camp in Sandestin, Florida.

Topic:  Spring Co-Ed Golf Scramble Benefit

 

The Christian County Baptist Association is offering a Spring Co-Ed Golf Scramble Benefit for the “Operation Love in Action”, local mission work in Hopkinsville, Ky., in July.  The scramble is Saturday, May 3rd.  The range opens at 11:30 a.m.  Teams check in by 12:15 p.m.  The program is at 12:30 and the shotgun start is at 1:00.  There will be prizes and a meal after play.  The cost is $45 per player.  Businesses, individuals, and organizations may do a $50 hole sponsor or $200 for a hole sponsorship and a 4-member team.  Forms may be sent or delivered to the Christian County Baptist Association at 905 North Drive in Hopkinsville, KY 42240.  The entry fee and form cutoff date is close of business on Monday, April 28th.

Concord Baptist Church, located at Concord Lane by the By-Pass and Pennyrile Parkway on the north side of Hopkinsville, invites everyone to come by on Good Friday and Saturday, April 18th and 19th, at dusk until dark to view the crosses.  In addition, this year, there will be five scenes of Easter around the Church.

Topic:  Community Observance of the National Day of Prayer

 

There will be a Community Observance of the National Day of Prayer held at Second Baptist Church, located at 720 West 7th Street in Hopkinsville, KY.  The service will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 1st.  This service will feature special music, and local pastors and community leaders will lead in prayer for our government, military, schools, and families.  The service will last approximately 45 minutes and a sack lunch will be provided for all that attend.  The public is invited to come and join in prayer for our nation.

Claretta Brooks, CEO of the Michael E. Henry Charities (MEHC) – a non-profit charitable organization located in Clarksville- in cooperation with Family of Faith Worship Center invites everyone to an open forum.  The forum is called, “Surveying the Hill” and will take place at the Kennedy Law Center Building, located at 2050 Ft. Topic:  “Lifewalk” – Carenet Pregnancy Medical Center

 

Carenet Pregnancy Medical Center is sponsoring their annual “Lifewalk” fundraiser on Saturday, April 19th.  Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. – 7:15 a.m., and the walk begins at 7:30 a.m. to go downtown.  There is a registration fee of $25 until April 1st for the 5k run and $30 April 2nd through April 18th.  The fee the day of the race will be $35.  The top 5K male and female will receive $100 each.  The 5k begins at 7:15 a.m. and the awards ceremony will be at 8:30 a.m.
