Who We Are

WNKJ Christian Radio is the broadcast ministry of the Pennyrile Christian Community WNKJwhich also has a ministry to area children under the direction of Joyce Adams.

WNKJ is entirely supported by listeners and other interested parties who want to see its ministry to the Hopkinsville, Ft. Campbell, Clarksville area continue. Since we are licensed to operate in the non-commercial portion of the FM band we cannot air commercials. However we also do not solicit underwriters' announcements that would interfere with the flow of ministry that we feel is vital to our mission and calling. Therefore WNKJ is solely dependent upon God and His supply of our needs through His people.

Jim Adams Jim is from South Carolina; Joyce, his wife, is from Minnesota; they met in California; and here they are in Kentucky. That had to be God. OK, He used the US Air Force. Jim's final assignment prior to being discharged after successfully avoiding promotion to major was as AF Liaison to 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, "Air Assault", where he got to do "all those things I joined the AF not to do - tents, bugs, C-rations, mud, dust, and the rest that the Infantry enjoys"

The Board of Directors of the Pennyrile Christian Community, which owned and operated the Shepherd's Shop Christian Bookstore, had invited Jim to be on their Board of Directors in the mid-1970s. After they got the permit to build WNKJ, and since Jim had attended a broadcasting school in Nashville because he wanted to do something connected to the station, they offered him a six-month trial as the first manager of the station; and they have kept extending the trial ever since.

Jim and Joyce have two children, Maxwell and Amy, and six grandchildren.

Roy Cavender I was born again in the spring of 1976. God saved me out of a life of drugs and alcohol. In those early years, Esther and I were part of a home fellowship. The Lord taught us so much about being a part of the Body of Christ. We have been involved with several churches and have had opportunities to work with interdenominational ministries.

The Lord brought me to WNKJ in Jan., 1996. I am so blessed to be a part of this ministry, although 4:15 am comes mighty early...LOL. I also enjoy leading praise and worship, playing guitar, and spending time with my family.
