Emmanuel Bible Church in Cadiz, KY, will hold its annual “Maundy Thursday” service on Thursday, April 2nd, at 6:00 p.m.  The service will consist of a time of related scripture readings interspersed with seasonal hymns, followed by the observance of the Lord’s table.  Emmanuel Bible Church is located at 2887 Hopkinsville Road, next to Southern States Corp.  The public is cordially invited to attend.

Topic:  Women of Peace 8th Annual Conference, “A Gathering of God’s Women”

 

The Women of Peace 8th Annual Conference, “A Gathering of God’s Women”, will be held Saturday, April 18th, at 10:00 a.m., at the Bruce Convention Center, 303 Conference Center Drive, Hopkinsville, KY.  Doors will open at 9:00 a.m.  This year’s theme is “Life”, and scripture reference is John 10:10 “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  Come and fellowship with guests from near and far and a special musical guest.  Registration is $20 and includes lunch.  You must register in advance and the deadline to register is April 4th.  Seating is limited, so please register early.  Call 270-839-5441 for information.  Attendance contests will be held and vendors must also register.  For information on the contests or being a vendor, please call the same number at 270-839-5441.

Topic:  “Resurrection Sunday” at Bethel Berry Baptist Church

Montgomery Elizabeth Baptist Church will have a sunrise service at 6:00 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 5th.  Montgomery Elizabeth Baptist Church is located at the curve along Hwy. 68 before I-24 from Hopkinsville to Cadiz, KY.  The speaker will be Rev. Topic:  “The Story of Job-When Bad Things Happen to Good People

 

Chicago’s Christian Professional Ballet Company will present “The Story of Job-When Bad Things Happen to Good People”.  It will be presented on Friday, April 10th, at 7:00 p.m. at Heritage Christian Academy, located at 8349 Eagle Way By-pass in Hopkinsville, KY.  Tickets are $15.  They are available in advance through April 9th and at the door on the night of the performance.  Proceeds support Ballet 5:8, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.  You may contact them at Ballet58.org or at 312-725-4752.

Topic:  “Ready Reader Road Rally”

 

The Christian County Literacy Council is hosting a “Ready Reader Road Rally” on Saturday, April 18th, at 9:30 a.m., at the Hopkinsville Municipal Building, located at South Virginia St. in downtown Hopkinsville, KY.  It’s a competition and treasure hunt.  Participating teams will be given clues to locate sites by car throughout Christian County or by foot in downtown Hopkinsville.  The first two teams to return with stamped passports and digital photos will receive monetary prizes.  The registration fee is $40 before the rally day and $50 the day of the rally.  The fee is non-refundable and tax-deductible.  To register, call 270-962-7114.

Beginning Monday night, April 13th, through Sunday, April 19th, Parkway Missionary Baptist Church will be having revival services.  The evangelist will be Brother Paul Taylor, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, in Eddyville, KY.  Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. nightly, and on Sunday, April 19th, at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Parkway Missionary Baptist Church is located at 1851 Peartree Lane, Hopkinsville, KY, across from Affordable Dentures behind Hopkinsville Electric.  Brother Roy Marquess, Jr. is pastor and the Church invites everyone.

Topic:  Preschool Screening

 

The Christian County School System’s preschool screening will be held Friday, May 1st, and Friday, May 15th, for children who reside in Christian County.  The screening will be held at the Christian County Board of Education and Christian County High School (the old Christian County Middle School) in Hopkinsville, KY.  Children, who will be three years of age by April 1, 2015 or will be four by August 1, 2015 and reside in Christian County, will be eligible for the screening in areas of vision, hearing, speech/language, motor, and concept development.  If you are interested in your child participating, please call 270-887-7004 to schedule an appointment.

Topic:  “Hopkinsville Marathon for Hope” 5K Run/Walk

 

 

The Aaron McNeil House is partnering with Elite Era Entertainment to host the “Hopkinsville Marathon for Hope” 5K Run/Walk.  Children and seniors can choose to run a modified course.  Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to benefit the Aaron McNeil House Crisis Relief/Food Pantry Program.  This 5K will be held on April 18th at 9:00 a.m. Registration fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children and seniors 65 or over.  Parent may run with child at no additional cost.
